VHA Georgia Hosts Learning Laboratory for Margin Improvement

In response to the recent VHA Georgia survey on margin improvement activities, we hosted our first Learning Laboratory Thursday, November 10, 2011 at the Ritz-Carlton Buckhead in Atlanta, GA. The Learning Lab focused on lessons learned in the implementation of best practices that respond to the growing competitive market focused on value in healthcare delivery. Nearly 50 members representing 14 member HCOs attended this interactive session and we’re able to take away the following learning objectives:

  • Assess how best performers have aligned physician and hospital practices to deliver measured high quality services at the lowest possible costs
  • Review Pay for Performance projects that increase the economic returns to participating providers
  • Evaluate alignment methodologies that accelerate hospital-physician partnerships in the delivery of clinical service lines with minimal variation

  • “Good program! Armed me with the desire to prepare for the future.”

-Jerry West, Director Quality Resource Management, Houston Healthcare

Members used case studies as well as best practices within national organizations to provide a forum for attendees to gather ideas for their own organizations, share ideas with others, and explore opportunities both at individual and collaborative levels.

More information on the next learning laboratory is forthcoming.
